Non Immigrant Visa (NIV) – Application Instructions

WHEN APPLYING FOR A NON-IMMIGRANT (temporary visit) VISA, YOU NEED TO BRING THE FOLLOWING:
• A valid passport (At least 6 months beyond your intended period of stay in the Unites States)
• Your Residence Permit (Carte d’Identité d’Étranger), if you are not Djiboutian
• A $131 (or 23,600 DJF) non-refundable processing fee, cash only. U.S. dollar notes print dates should be 2001 or later.
• Two photographs with a white background (see website for instructions)
• Supporting documentation (like, but not limited to, your last 3 months bank statement, original bank letter showing your latest bank balance, employment letter with leave status or business ownership certification, property ownership documentation, marriage certificate, birth certificate of child, etc.)
• Your DS-156 visa application form filled on line at: http://evisaforms.state.gov/ (please make sure you answer ALL questions, then generate the form on PDF format by clicking on “CONTINUE” at the bottom of the page, and print it). If you have not responded to all the questions, we will not accept your application!
• If you are a man between 16-45 years of age, please go to the following link and click on the corresponding line to generate the DS-157 Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application form, print it and fill it out manually (or fill it out on your computer and print it): http://www.state.gov/m/a/dir/forms/
• A flight itinerary
• for a student visa:
- Please click on http://www.state.gov/m/a/dir/forms/ to generate the DS-158 Contact Information and Work History for Nonimmigrant Applicant form, print it and it fill out manually (or fill it out on your computer and print it)
- Proof of financial capacity to cover for tuition and lodging for period of study
- Your I-20
- Your SEVIS payment receipt
Note – Presenting the above documents does not guarantee a visa will be issued. They will just help the consular officer in the review process of the visa application.
- In addition to the application fee, there may be a reciprocity fee to be paid, if you
qualify for a visa.

PLEASE COME TO THE EMBASSY AT 08:00 a.m. ON YOUR INTERVIEW DATE TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION.
Important Note: Please DO NOT USE HENNA on your fingers; it will cause a problem to the mandatory fingerprinting process during your interview.
