The Public Diplomacy Office
The Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy in Djibouti is dedicated to explaining U.S. government policies and promoting understanding of the values of the American people. Public diplomacy activities complement and reinforce traditional diplomacy by communicating directly with the public and are carried out by career American diplomats as well as locally engaged professionals.
The Public Diplomacy Office builds stronger institutional and cultural ties between the United States and Djibouti using the full spectrum of public diplomacy resources, including academic and professional exchanges, seminars and conferences, press briefings, speaker programs, research and documentation, dissemination of publications, and informational mailings. Personal contact by both officials and distinguished private American citizens with counterpart and potential leaders from all parts of Djiboutian society is a key element of public diplomacy.
The Public Diplomacy Office is also responsible for answering media inquiries, issuing press releases, arranging interviews and facilitating Djiboutian accreditation for visiting American media.
