Most of the above documents will have been compiled by the National Visa Center (NVC), and sent to the Embassy with the immigrant file.  The Consular section will check each file received and will request the applicant and/or petitioner to provide any missing document(s).

Who may accompany applicants for interviews?

If the applicant is a minor child, a parent or legal guardian may accompany the child for the interview, but will not participate unless specifically asked so by the interviewing Consular Officer.

What else do I need to know about interviews?

Objective of an immigrant visa interview:

The main objective of an immigrant visa interview is for the interviewing Consular Officer to be able to verify the bona fide of the relationship between the petitioner and the applicant.  Therefore, it is helpful if the applicant provides as much proof of relationship as possible when appearing at the Consular window on the scheduled appointment day.

The following items are not permitted in the premises of the Consular Section waiting room:

Weapons of any kind or size, sharp metal or glass objects, razor blades, liquids, bottles, powdery substances, umbrellas and electronic or battery-operated equipment (including cell phones, radios, tape recorders, cameras, personal digital assistants, and computers). If you have any of these items, to the exception of a cell phone which you will be asked to switch off and leave at the main gate security post, please leave them back home before coming to the Embassy.

Important Note:  Please DO NOT USE HENNA on your fingers; it will cause a problem to the mandatory fingerprinting process during your interview.
